The Papaya strain is an Indica-dominant hybrid that gets you high like you’re smoking a killer Sativa strain. Some users find that the traditional Sativa effects that Papaya Cake delivers are a nice blend with its Indica effects that creeps in towards the tail end of the buzz. This strain will make you feel energetic, creative, productive, and relaxed.
Nirvana Seeds bred this to be their take on a Mango strain and crossed Citral #13 with Ice #2 to make their own fruit. They met their own challenge and Papaya smells uncannily like its namesake. The taste is similar to its tropical fruit counterpart, but an earthy side also becomes apparent.
The Chronic Beaver’s Strain Review of Papaya Cake
The Papaya Cake bud that The High Club graciously donated to me is one of their AAAA premium hybrid strains. The sample came as one 2 gram super dense nug, BC bud at its best!
I decided to smoke and vape the strain mostly during the day because I learned its high was heavier on the Sativa side of things. What I heard about Papaya Cake was true in almost every sense.
While high on some Papaya Cake and working on designing stuff, I was energized with a creative motivation that led to some effective “less is more” design work on some display ads that I was working on for a client. Hours seemed like minutes, and I was a happy camper. I love strains that make me feel via creativity and while being able to focus on one thing for a long time. It’s AAAA+ in my book!
Appearance
The Papaya Cake as mentioned was super dense, not fluffy with Papaya orange hairs (pistils) and with a healthy amount of trichomes or crystals. The BC bud was hard to the touch and was cured professionally. It ground up beautifully in my grinder with hardly any unwanted stalks and other undesirables.
Fragrance & Flavors
As its name suggests, Papaya’s smell has a striking resemblance to the aroma of the actual fruit but with an earthy scent mixed in. The strain’s overall fragrance has mildly sweet scents of tropical fruits with a little bit of mango thrown in.
The sweet and fruity taste of the actual papaya fruit is reflected in the flavors of this strain. It tasted earthy and spicy with a flat taste of papaya, it was a unique flavor explosion that was truly a joy to smoke and vape.
How Papaya Cake Performed
In a joint, the Papaya Cake smoked great!!! I rolled it tightly and perfectly, using a filter and organic rolling papers. It burned evenly, nice and slow like a good piece of hardwood with nice clean white ash.
The flavors when smoking the joint were similar to its fragrance but with more of an earthy musty exhale. The exhales were creamy white and papaya dank if you will.
In my vape, the Papaya Cake’s taste was intensified making it even more enjoyable. I defiantly recommend trying this strain in a vape during the day when you want to get something done, but be warned the Indica relaxing effects of this strain will eventually kick in and slow you down.
Note: Make sure to have plenty of your favorite beverages on hand, Papaya Cake gives you some serious dry mouth, or “Pasties” as I like to call it.
